I was pleasantly surprised this morning to see that Emoji Installer (or Emoji Install & Keyboard ROOT) has surpassed 5,000 downloads, making it the most downloaded app of its kind. Not only that, but it’s the highest rated, fully working Emoji font installing app. And all of that, in only 20 days. Wow.
And for that, I’d like to say a big THANK YOU!
But that’s not what this article is about. This about what’s next. I’ve made the app function and it looks fine across all devices. That’s good. So stop? No, there’s some more yet
1.) OTA updates of items.
This will use a simple idea. Device boots, app checks for updates for any installed items. If there is one, it notifies the user, they choose whether to download it, if there isn’t, app closes, minimal battery and data usage
You will also be able to check within the app, with a new drawer that slides out from the right:
2.) Drawer on the right
Installed items (+ updates), Settings and more apps.
Installed items shows the version of the items, whether there’s an update and gives the option to refresh
Settings will allow you to turn automatic checking on boot on and off
More apps will be a migration of the more apps button from the action bar to the drawer, meaning it will be included in the app
So in future the Action Bar will consist of this:
ICON (+ drawer button) - TITLE - UPGRADE BUTTON - RIGHT DRAWER BUTTON
Expect it soon, when I have the time to add all the stuff, as version 3.0, along with this stuff for the keyboard:
Holo UI, uses same UI as stock Android keyboard (Google Keyboard) on Android 4.0+
More icons, including Unicode
Better settings UI
